通圓２３代当主・通円　亮太郎（つうえん　りょうたろう）でございます。

宇治橋の東詰で平安時代末から　お茶の商いを始めて850年。
おそらく通圓は日本で、いや世界でいちばん最初に
お茶の商いをした店だと思っております。
その昔　京都と奈良の間を行き来するには、宇治川に架かる宇治橋（大化２年建立）を
渡らなければなりませんでした。（通圓の歴史ページへ）
通圓は　道行く旅人に　「お茶のみ処」として
一服のお茶をふるまい味わっていただいて参りました。

通圓は茶どころ宇治で、宇治橋のたもとでお茶という商いをさせていただいたから
今日（こんにち）まで続いてきたのかもしれません。

日本をはじめ　諸外国でも　人々が日本緑茶を愛し、
飲み続けていただいている限り、
お茶の文化と伝統をいつまでも守り続けてゆきたいと思っております。

I am Ryotaro Tsuen, the 23 generation of TSUEN TEA.

My family has been in Tea Business for over 846 years
since Heian Period Japan (1160 AD) at the same location
on the east side of the Uji Bridge,
which is the oldest bridge in Japan (built in 647)

There were so many travellers across
Uji Bridge which is really important bridge between Kyoto and
Nara, then we serve our tea for them.
Also we serve to Monks, Samurai, and Shoguns.

Today, we have internet, mailing system and so on, so
people can enjoy our tea anywhere.
I would like to serve my tea wherever
also introduce our family history
and Japanese culture to people in all over the world.
